Mr. Burkhardt is Co-Chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s Federal Relations Practice Group, and regularly collaborates with Morrill & Fiedler on Illinois state government relations projects.

For 27 years, Burkhardt has advised clients on government relations, grants and regulatory actions in Springfield and Washington, DC. Burkhardt served as White House-appointed Chief Counsel for Technology and supervised the legal team investigating the New York World Trade Center building and fire safety disaster, and served as a legal advisor during the Rauner gubernatorial campaign.

A former general counsel of the Illinois Republican Party, Mr. Burkhardt received his J.D. from St. Louis University in 1984, and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
